Book Recommendations by: Aki Hassan

Hello, Aki! Can you recommend us three titles?

1. Flavour of the Day, Tae Parvit

This book by Tae Parvit is beautifully put together. I love it when drawings feel like they are fleeting on their own but are also able to ground themselves in a collective.

2. Mouse in Residence, Anna Haifisch

I love comics that do not feel too loud – in the forms, personalities, settings... Mouse in Residence brings you into its own way of looking at a world and its everyday life.

3. SILA, Izzad Radzali Shah

I have always been a fan of Izaad's work! This book is quite simply a collection of his earlier working materials but you'll almost feel like you've entered Izzad's brain with all the bright colours that risograph can offer.

What are you currently reading?

Heart of a Shapeshifter, Coyote Park

Through this publication, Coyote Park invites us to reflect on the ways we shape and shift ourselves around love. This publication is one of my favourites in 2022 – I 100% recommend supporting then and Genderfail too!

Send us an image you took in the last 24 hours!

I've been thinking a lot about slowness as a form of activity in itself. This book Slow Spatial Reader: Chronicles of Radical Affection (published by Valiz) has been really helpful to me as I walk through my own ideas.

Thank you, Aki!

Aki Hassan is a multidisciplinary artist who works through drawing, printed matter and sculptural installation. Since then, they have participated in both local and international exhibitions, mostly with their sculptural installation work.
