24 Slides looks at found photographic material as evidence, questioning the truths that regimes sell us and the truths that we seek on our own.
The zine attempts to juxtapose these thoughts onto a photo booklet published by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in Iraq in 1978. Through the careful selection and layout of 24 photographic slides, this 12 page tourism book reads like a propaganda tool showcasing Iraq as a peaceful, progressive, rich and secular state. This was the time when the nation was readying itself for a futile and a decade long war with its neighbouring state, Iran, in a bid to assert its geo-political and religious agenda.
